Summer Circus will bring four days full of playfulness, liveliness and artistic wonders to the riverside of the Radbuza river (Náplavka na Radbuze) in Pilsen. Contemporary circus performances were put together by the organization from Pilsen, Žongléros Ansámbl, which is also behind the Contemporary Circus Festival Žonglobalizace. The performance from Ostrava, called Carpe(t) Diem Reloaded, will be created directly for the riverside promenade. You can expect not only admirable acrobatic stunts, but also spontaneous movement and contact with the audience. The highlight of the event will be the closing Gala show, which will play with the local environment in a distinctive way – you will see acrobatics and other circus disciplines, for example, on the bridge construction of the footbridge by the Šálek & Špunt café, on the walls of the embankment and above the river. And what if you suddenly feel like trying a bit of acrobatics first-hand? Visit movement workshops here, where you can also learn to juggle. The workshops are opened to older children too, while the little ones will enjoy a lot of fun in circus play areas.
Summer acrobatic performances commemorate the title of European Capital of Culture which the city received. Ten years ago, acrobats and contemporary circus companies from all over the world joined the celebration of the prestigious title. You may still remember the opening ceremony of the circus season and the year 2015 when David Dimitri, a Swiss tightrope walker, skilfully balanced twenty metres above Republic Square in the historical centre of Pilsen.
