Akva Tera is divided into several exhibits. You will find a rainforest, a desert, freshwater animals, and coral sea creatures. In the exhibit dedicated to the drier areas of Madagascar, you will see, for example, the endangered radiated tortoise. The rainforest exhibits are home to tree monitor lizards, the difficult-to-breed green python, and several species of rainforest frogs from South and Central America. The water aquariums feature tetras, angelfish, dwarf cichlids, hatchetfish, armored catfish, and the feared red piranhas. Three aquariums will introduce you to the life of coral reefs. You can also see the popular chameleon and encounter a tame agama lizard roaming freely.
Commentated feeding
You will have an even more interesting tour if you take part in the commentated feeding of the local animals. It takes place every Monday to Friday at 4 p.m. On Saturdays from 10:30 a.m., you can watch how the Guyana dragonfly is fed or pet a snake. On Saturdays from 2 p.m., you will be breathless watching the tarantulas being fed. On Sundays, you can visit the feeding of frogs or fish.
