Skupa’s Pilsen

Skupa’s Pilsen

Visitors will find themselves in a world of fantasy at the International Festival of Puppet and Alternative Theatre Skupa’s Pilsen. The festival, which takes place as one of the highlights of the celebrations of Hurvínek’s 100th birthday this year, presents the best pieces of the Czech puppet and alternative theatre scene. About ten theatres will participate in the competition, and also several ensembles from abroad will put on their performances. A part of the festival is the variety night Puppet Slam International, where puppeteers from Czechia, Slovakia, Japan, the U.S., and other countries appear with short puppet performances. Don’t miss the open-air performance Current of Light that will brighten up your evening stroll along the river with glowing lantern puppets.

The complete programme for 2026 can be found here.

Where does the festival take place?

The main venue for the festival is the ALFA Theatre. Other festival venues include the Moving Station culture centre, the DEPO2015 culture zone, the J. K. Tyl Theatre (The Grand Theatre & The New Stage, The Small Stage), the Puppet Museum, the Dialog Theatre and the Museum of West Bohemia.
