Historical celebrations commemorate the founding of the city of Pilsen. The birthday girl will turn an unbelievable 730 years old this year. The city will be full of dancing parades and period markets where medieval crafts will be brought to life. Music and dance performances will add to the cheerful and merry bustle throughout the entire weekend. Even the founder of Pilsen, King Wenceslaus II of Bohemia and the Queen Judith of Habsburg will return here with much fanfare. And they will not come alone. On Republic Square, the honoured knights will meet face to face to fight in a tournament that Pilsen has never seen before. At the end of Saturday evening, you will be captivated also by a parade with burning torches and a fire show.
The rich history of the city on four rivers will also be reflected in the activities for children – they will be able to try historical games, create a seal, shoot a crossbow, and take part in the training of pages for the royal court.
The detailed programme of the event, held by the JK Tyl Theatre and the association Plzeňští, can be found here (only in Czech version).
