Where to have breakfast in Pilsen

All-day breakfast

Le Frenchie

Le Frenchie is a legend in Pilsen cafés, not only because of its great coffee. They are also famous for their homemade cakes, fresh croissants and creative breakfasts. You can also enjoy an honest English breakfast or fresh yeast bread on the weekend, topped and customised as you like. From spring 2021, there are two branches.

The Fresh Bar

In the very heart of Pilsen, right on the Republic Square, you can go for a breakfast that follows the motto #wedoinstafoodtasty. This means to make the food not only look good, but also taste good. The menu includes smoothies full of vitamins, smoothie bowls with fruit or healthy sandwiches.

Bistro Fred

In the newly opened Bistro Fred, you will be surrounded by an atmosphere of peace and calm, just by its name coming from Danish. As well as excellent coffee, you can enjoy a drink or a snack and breakfast all day long. Plus, every weekend you can enjoy a special brunch offer that is worth trying. Even the lunch menu changes regularly, so you’ll see new flavours every week.

Stan

At Stan on Americká Street, you’ll find the famous fluffy pancakes, sandwiches, rich farm breakfasts, cinnamon rolls and other sweet and savoury treats. There’s also quality coffee, orange fresh and mimosas. Inside the modern and spacious interior, you’ll find a bit of peace from the busy downtown street.

Pappa Coffee

Breakfast is eaten all day at Pappa Coffee! It’s here at this friendly family café, located not far from Pilsen’s main square, that you can enjoy great breakfasts, fresh juices and a selection of coffee (the coffee is actually roasted right on the spot), any day of the week. Follow Pappa Coffee on Facebook and never miss out on their themed Saturday brunches.

Best egg-based breakfast

Beseda 1901

For delicious eggs in a glass with truffle sauce or eggs Benedict in a croissant, go to the Art Noveau café and restaurant, which is located right in the building of the Burgher’s Hall (Měšťanská beseda). We recommend tasting also their iconic Beseda 1901 Breakfast, tartine or beef sandwich. You will also enjoy a perfectly made sweet breakfast with a loaded French toast, but feel free to wander to the wide selection of desserts in the display case. Refresh yourself with premium coffee or prosecco.

Café & Restaurant hotel Continental

You can make your way to one of the oldest hotels in Pilsen for a buffet-style breakfast, right in the centre of the city. We would, however, recommend trying their breakfast option in this First Republic-style café, where you can order classics such as poached eggs and eggs Benedict.

Enjoy Coffee

All you morning birds out there will be grateful for Enjoy Coffee, which opens its doors every weekday at 7 a.m. (9 a.m. on weekends) and provides a menu with a little something for everyone. Every day they serve fresh quiche, panini, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, pancakes and toast with avocado, poached egg or smoked salmon at affordable prices.

Caffe Diem

In addition to delicious scrambled eggs and ham & eggs, Caffe Diem on the Anglické nábřeží also serves avocado sandwiches, English breakfast or fluffy pancakes. You can also choose from a wide range of coffee and homemade lemonades.

Inventive breakfasts

Walter Mitty: Brunch, Coffee & Drinks

At the Walter café, you’ll find much more than coffee. Firstly, we’d like to warn you that the breakfasts at this place will very easily tide you over until the afternoon. We recommend the poached eggs with bacon and avocado as well as any one of Walter’s open-faced sandwiches.

Arnie‘s Bistro

The modern design of Arnie’s Bistro, located in the centre of the city, tempts every passer-by to come in and try something off their original breakfast menu. From 8 a.m. you can enjoy their hardy shakshouka, a delicious meal consisting of oatmeal, carrot waffles or ricotta pancakes.

Kafe Smetanka

Excellent weekend brunches are also prepared in Kafe Smetanka at the Homolka Forest Park in Slovany. Thanks to the creativity of the chefs, they regularly change the menu and use seasonal ingredients. We definitely recommend trying their famous vanilla cream roll.

Dvě buchty

What else would you go to Dvě buchty (Two Buns) for than two… three, four decent homemade sweet buns? But don’t be fooled, even though their curd cheese and plum jam buns are famous, you’ll find plenty of other treats on the menu. In addition to cakes and raw desserts, you can also enjoy breakfast here – whether sweet or savoury. Your dog companions will love it here too, because they have special desserts prepared for them every day. We recommend combining a visit to the café with a walk in Lobezský park nearby.

Where to go with children

Schovaná kavárna

Living up to its name, this small café is hidden in the Zbrojnická Street. But you can find it easily – just walk through the passageway to the courtyard and here you are. Familiar and cosy of the café atmosphere will delight mums and dads with children. Kids can play not only inside, for example with board games, but also run outside on the courtyard, where they can find a smaller sandpit with toys. In warm weather, the courtyard provides an ideal shelter from the heat and also a pleasant place to sit and have breakfast in fresh air. Both sweet and savoury are served on weekday and Saturday from 9 am, while on Sunday you can sleep in and come here at 10 pm. However, if you come in the afternoon, don’t worry – brunches are prepared here all day long.

Café a restaurant Kačaba

On weekdays you can get your hands on a great breakfast at the Kačaba restaurant. Here they serve the kind of meals that make you feel good about your choice after you leave. And that’s primarily because this restaurant likes to help the community by employing people with with special needs. In addition, while waiting for your meal, you can pass the time by playing a board game and your children can entertain themselves in the restaurant’s play area.

Our tip:

Traditional farmer’s markets are held on Pilsen’s Republic Square from March until the end of December. Here you can go every Saturday morning for some fresh coffee and other products from local farmers.
