10 years have already passed since the title European Capital of Culture and Pilsen plans to celebrate this major anniversary properly. The main September celebrations will therefore feature musical, theatre, acrobatic and light performances that will attract you to the city centre.
The spectacular three-day show will begin with a concert by the Belgian band The Rackers. Then, the French theatre company Picto Facto will merrily head through the city parks and present an interactive show Lampadophores full of dancing and singing. The street theatre parade with light objects will arrive at Republic Square.
This is where the highlight of the celebrations will shine – the aerial acrobatic show named Muaré Experience. The incredible experience will be brought to you by 21 artists from the Spanish group Voalá Station; 12 of them will be floating in the air directly above your head. They will be suspended on cranes for daring acrobatic tricks. Music performed by the band Duchamp Pilot will form an integral part of this exceptional performance. The same show will be held on Friday and Saturday so that as many spectators as possible can see it in the historical centre of Pilsen.
On Sunday, the spotlight will be on the local cultural scene. A rich programme, illuminated by light effects, will be prepared by ensembles of the JK Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, but also independent artists and artistic groups will participate.
