ICIONIC HOUSES – Icons of Czech Avantgarde

The ICONIC HOUSES exhibition presents fourteen iconic buildings that are remarkable examples of modern architecture from 1906–1958 in Czechia. These houses-museums, which you can find in Pilsen, Prague, Brno and also smaller towns, belong to the prestigious international network of the same name, ICONIC HOUSES. This network unites architecturally significant objects of the 20th century from all around the world. The Czech ones include, for example, the famous Villa Tugendhat, the Villa Müller, the Villa Rothmayer and since 2023 also the Semler Residence in Pilsen, which boasts realization of Adolf Loos’ concept of the so-called Raumplan. The exhibition highlights especially authenticity and aesthetic and stylistic diversity of individual buildings, which preserve their unmistakable character to this day and mirror the visionary mind of their authors perfectly.

  • The exhibition can be found in the function room on the first floor of the building.
  • You can visit the Semler Residence with a guide on regular guided tours.
